Who Will Win The Triple Crown?

The Nunthorpe, Oaks, Derby and St Leger are grand Challenge Series races for three-year old horses. All horses run off level weights (unlike the juveniles or older horses), they’re competing for $16,000, plus if they’re crowned the Triple Crown Champion this year their winnings are doubled. It’s a win-win-win Challenge Series.

Winning $16,000 in three days with the added possibility of it being doubled is the kind of high stakes, adrenaline rush that could lead to dependency and addiction problems in later life. Fortunately, with a good age change that winning streak could continue for the next four seasons in the Newbury, Queen Elizabeth, King George and Cesarewitch Finals.

Considering the highly addictive stakes involved, the RP wasn’t surprised in the slightest to note the multiple entries from top trainers competing in this season’s 3Y Challenge Series. Clearly both the Sales Ring and the jockeys have been good to Chac`s Champion Stal, Muggins Racing and Newell Racing who all have five challengers running this season.

Showing uncharacteristic restraint this season, Shotgun_mike only has six 3Y challengers while neighbor / rival Team Johansson has another 6. If there were an award for most number of challengers running, Sky Castle Stables would certainly win it hands down with his 10 contenders.

Some trainers might suggest that it only takes one champion to win Challenge Series. May it be the best one!
